Top Of The Rock

You get so busy you cant blog and things start becoming irrelevant.  But sometimes certain things must be shared no matter when they happened.  An unposted kid quote:

"Santa should get a discount at the toy stores." ~ Gary

This is from last weekend.  All on Saturday actually.  You can tell that the weather in the northeast finally got cold.  It has been now for about a week.  It's about time!  We picked one of the coldest and windiest days to get outdoors.  Not just outdoors mind you but to The Top Of The Rock.  That's the top of Rockerfeller Plaza in midtown Manhattan.  Gary was in his glory and Katherine… well she thought it was ok.  Kris was happy to finally be visiting NYC again and just walking around.  For me, it was kind of a goodbye to NY.  I worked in NY for the last 17 years but I started my new job in Irvington on the Monday after this.  (more on that in a later post)  We visited the Chrysler Building, St. Patricks and Rockerfeller.  There are a few pics below but more on my Flickr page.

Waiting for the train "I hear that train a coming, it's rolling round the bend."

Katherine 700 feet up. See the Empire State Building, Gary and Kris in the back.  We were inside nice and warm and out of the wind where Katherine liked it most.  :-)

Good thing the Empire State Building is strong! Alright, I made him pose for this.  He's actually leaning on a very thick piece of glass.

Frozen water fountain outside of Fuji Mountain in Larchmont  See!  I told you it was cold!

Getting a picture of your kids faces burning off... Priceless! We went to a hibachi place called Fuji Mountain in Larchmont for dinner.  They make a lovely flaming volcano out of onions.  The faces are priceless.

I tell the landlady I got a job, I’m gonna pay the rent.

The number one sign you have nothing to do at work:  The 4th Division of Paperclips has overrun the Pushpin Infantry and General White-Out has called for a new skirmish.  ~Fred Barling, "Humorscope"

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.  ~Doug Larson

Find a job you like and you add five days to every week.  ~H. Jackson Browne

By working faithfully eight hours a day you may eventually get to be boss and work twelve hours a day.  ~Robert Frost

He freed alot of people, but it seems the good die young.

If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause and say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.

Well, thanks to the suggestion by Andy we're now using Flickr to host our mobile pics.  I've even gone and uploaded some of the old ones that used to be on my Textamerica account.  They're on the flashy thingy up there on the right sidebar or you can just go visit them at your leisure.  Thanks, Andy!

Conditions are never just right. People who delay action until all factors are favorable are the kind who do nothing.

I've mentioned my wife's love notes before.  She used to send them with me to work with my lunch.  Well, out of work as I've been for the last couple of months I wanted everyone to be assured the that love notes didn't stop.  For every interview I went on, there was a love note strategically placed someone within my suit or cell phone or briefcase that I would find.  The past Thursday I had 4 interviews and… 4 love notes.

So, on that day with 4 love notes warming me from my pocket while waiting on the train platform to head into a very stressful day of interviews in NYC, I got a phone call to return to a local advertising agency for a 3rd rounder.

More to come in the next few days.  :-)
