Happy Saturday all!!
A couple of days ago, Gary made me proud. For those of you who don’t know, he’s my stepson. I’ve tried hard several times to get him involved in some of my hobbies, such as sports, music, etc. He’s never too interested. He took up the violin and did fine, but there’s really not much interest there. We’ve played some baseball in the park but there’s no interest there at all. We played hockey for about 10 minutes once and then he started running around like the stick is a rocket ship. We’re just on different wavelengths which is fine, he’ll come into his own with his own hobbies, etc….. Anyway, a couple of days ago he’s listening to some music in his room on his computer. It’s his Kidz Bop cd that we got him months ago. It has James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, BTO, etc. sung by kids. I was pleasantly surprised that he was listening to it. Then, he says, “Dad, can I play this on your CD player.” SURE! We threw it on and I cranked it for a little while. We sang along and whatnot. It was cool. I hope he takes a real interst in music. He has a real good singing voice and he’s always on key. I’d like to see him sing in school chorus or something. That would be SO cool.
My blog-buddy Pete of the LateLife space left a comment. He wanted me to post a profile and a picture so he had a better idea of who he was chatting with. Here’s links to a couple of recent pictures that can be found with lots of others on the chench.com photo album. There’s even a brief “about me” if you want to read it Pete. I’ll update that though, soon.

OK, it’s quote day and I’ve got some for you but before that I want to make mention of a new and awesomely exciting new feature of The Little Things…. The Quote Page. If you head on over to http://www.chench.com/quotes/ you’ll find my latest labor of love. The site features all(or most) of the quotes that have been featured on The Little Things. Quote sites are really popular on the net and lots of people are looking for words of inspiration to help them through their days, weeks, months, lives, etc. I hope to compile some of the best of the best. You’ll find Abraham Lincoln and George Carlin, Benjamin Franklin and Phyllis Diller and much more. Quotes about family, kids, music, inspiration, motivation and perspiration. More will be added regularly and everytime a quote is used on The Little Things it will be added there as well. The categories on the page are rough drafts and I’ll accept any comments anyone may have on the site. It is a work in progress. I hope it’s worthwhile and that y’all find something inspirational there to make you smile and help get you through your day!
I’m also working on the possibility have allowing readers to submit quotes that they like. Eventually the site will become just a great quote site and not just quotes used on The Little Things.
If you’re looking for something specific, use the search feature on the quotes page and put in the word you’re looking for. Some examples…. “friend” “love” “dad” “listen” “Gary” “Katherine” etc. Hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Now, some quotes. These are just some random ones I get from a daily email I receive with inspirational quotes…
Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. ~ P. J. O’Rourke
Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. ~ John Lennon
It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers. ~ James Thurber

I’ve got this blog buddy named Cheryl who is really someone special. Her blog, “A Day At A Time” is about the transition she is making from being a CEO at a drug treatment center to retirement. I urge you to take some time and read some of her posts. She truly cares about her work, her family, her co-workers and the patients she comes in contact with.
On top of all that, she is blessed not only with a great camera which she has talked about, but with the ability to paint beautiful pictures with it and then write about what she felt and what she saw that the camera tried to capture. Below is a picture she took. It is now my desktop background on my work computer.

Got Milk?
Got even more milk?
Got Coffee?
I’ll let the wife post about our doggie chocolate adventures last night. The dog didn’t die, Gary almost did!
Dear, you should post something educating all the dog owners about the chocolate hazard. Maybe the emergency number too! ![]()

I got the girl kid all day. We’re going to spend some time in Grandpa’s pool. I couldn’t have planned the weather better for it. Word of the day later tonight.

Well, I figured if nothing else, I’d give an update on the shuttle and throw in another picture. This one is from Yahoo. They have a great slideshow of all that’s gone on with today’s launch including the launch, the crew, etc. They’ve got all the news and a link to watch NASA TV.
I thought this one was spectacular. Gives me chills.
