A force that would see "The Little Things" shrivel up and die a horrible screaming death. No, I'm not talking about Darth Vader, or the US Government. Oh, no. I'm talking about "Everything is going wrong today" force. Or the "Why me?" force. Oh, they've tried to get me down. They've tried to kick me in the ribs hard enough to knock the wind from my sails, but let me tell you something, they don't have the secret. The secret is friends. While the Dark Side is trying to cut off my light-saber arm, one friend meets me at the restaurant and brings her daughter. One is concerned that "The Little Things" didn't have an update. One sends me an uplifting email. One probably kills herself the whole day to be in a good mood. One I get to come home to and lean on. Old friends and new that have never even been invited to "The Little Things" give me good advice and show their strength and confidence. For every little and big thing that went wrong, there was someone countering it. I will not be overcome. I will not join the dark side. I am SMILING! I AM POSITIVE! HEAR ME ROAR!!!!!!!!!!

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried.

She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words! Maya Angelou said this:

"I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow."

"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."

"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."

"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."

"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. "

"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back."
