Carnival was Tuesday night at Katherine’s school and it went well. The kids had a blast and Kris and I managed to survive. Gary and Katherine both had a great time in the petting zoo and in the inflatable bouncy castle thingy. Wednesday morning was the best though. . . .

We forgot Baby and Froggy!

We were almost at school before Katherine realized and she started to cry. I had to promise her I’d go back to Grandpa’s and get them. Bay I was pissed! Another hour of driving. I dropped Katherine off, gave her a hug and told her I’d be back as fast as I could. She was so sad. I got to Dad’s and of course be offered to take care of it for me, but I was so pissed that I wanted to punish myself so I wouldn’t forget again. Dad is so good like that though. He’s constantly offering help. Constantly getting me out of jams. More on him on fathers day... So, back to the story… A hour after I left her, I’m on my way back to her and then her mother calls and offers to go to her house which is 5 minutes from the school to get the “backup” Baby. I told her thanks but no thanks. I let Katharine down and I was going to be the one to Fix it! When I got to her class, the look on her face almost made me cry. I think she was close to tears too. She said ‘Dad, you did bring them back, you did! You did!” Then to capitalize on the moment, I used her favorite line from “Lilo and Stitch” “Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind,” I said “Baby and Froggy are family. We could never leave them behind.”

She had a look in her eyes that said Daddy is my hero forever.

We hugged and I left. Would you believe that the rest of the day was just awesome? J
